The Blonde Ethos

John Frieda Sheer Blonde

Firstly, I genuinely cannot believe how long it has been since I last posted! I sincerely apologise; everything has been so crazy for the past couple of weeks, I think that I lost all awareness of time.
So, my parents are back from holiday, my boyfriend has been discharged from hospital and I am armed with Rescue Remedy to get me through a few more hours of study. So, with that, and the promise of pumpkin carving around the corner, things are looking up!

I have been desperate to share with you all for so long, some of my all-time favourite haircare products:

John Frieda is without a shadow of a doubt, my favourite professional haircare brand. I will always opt for the Go Blonder products within the Sheer Blonde range as they are definitely most suited to my hair type.

I have blonde hair which has never been colour treated (with the exception of a couple of flashes of red during middle school). It used to be a lovely white-blonde shade when I was younger but as I have grown up, my hair has grown darker, which I resent. I have always vowed that when it starts to be referred to as any shade of 'brown', I will begin my peroxide period. Although I hate the thought of chemically treating my hair as it is quite fine and damages very easily, for some reason I just love being a blonde!

I have used lightening hair care for more years that I can recall, and these are my favourites. I feel that most blonde haircare products are aimed at colour-treated blonde hair so Go Blonder definitely struck a chord with me from its release. I was delighted when I was sent the full range to test and review.

Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Shampoo £5.89
I have repurchased this shampoo on many occasions already because I honestly think it does a brilliant job all round. I have been using this for at least three years, on and off (mostly on), without always using the complimentary Go Blonder products yet I feel that it has always maintained a lightness which I am happy with and am regularly complimented on. Blonde-enchancing aside, I just genuinely love using this product. It is a lovely texture, it foams deliciously, the tube is satisfying to squeeze and my hair is never left unclean. The scent is quite hard to describe as it isn't particularly sweet or fruity. I would describe it as a 'salon' kind of smell; sophisticated and fresh, probably due to the citrussy formula!

Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Conditioner £5.89
This isn't a product which I have regularly used although I'm sure that I have tried it in the past. Like the shampoo, it has a lovely scent and does the job intended. The two definitely compliment each other and my hair feels silky smooth after use. As you will know if you saw my recent post on my "Twenty conditioners", I chop and change conditioning products quite regularly and yet this Go Blonder tube is one that I have picked up several times. That is definitely saying something!

Sheer Blonde Hair Repair Conditioning Treatment £5.89
I had never used this product before it landed on my doormat so it has been great to experiment with. Especially when I am using any kind of lightening product, I am very conscious about the condition of my hair so this versatile product is great. I sometimes use it as a quick conditioning treatment in the shower after each wash, but I prefer to take full advantage of it's abilities by applying a thick layer and leaving on for 15 minutes while I have a little pamper. I think it's a great treatment, especially considering the very reasonable price point.

Sheer Blonde Lightening Spray £6.99
I remember being so excited when this lightening spray was added to the Go Blonder range. It definitely doesn't disappoint! I use this product by spritzing on, paying particular attention to the roots of my hair, after washing. I then make a point of blow drying my hair (I often leave it to dry naturally to avoid heat damage) and will often style it with my GHDs as well to optimise the lightening effect. I used this spray after ten consecutive washes and have since continued to use it once or twice a fortnight for a lightening boost. It works wonders! I cannot tell you how many people have asked me if I have dyed my hair because 'it looks much lighter/brighter/blonder'. Every time that someone mentions it, I cannot help but grin. If you have blonde hair in need of a boost, I can't recommend this product enough.

Overall, I really enjoy using these Sheer Blonde products and I will definitely be repurchasing some (if not all!) of them. These products are sometimes on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots and I believe that they are currently 2 for £7.49 at Superdrug (where you can save a further 10% with an NUS student card).
