The Blonde Ethos

Empties No.2 - Autumn 2012

Natalie1 Comment

It has been a while since my Summer Empties post back in August and I have gathered up another basket of tubes and tubs over the past couple of months. I am definitely making more of a conscious effort to use up products that I already have before buying new ones as well as trying samples before investing in full sizes.

John Frieda Go Blonder Shampoo
This is my favourite shampoo so I made sure that I had a back-up before this one was empty.
You can read my full review on this product here.

John Frieda Go Blonder Lightening Spray
Like the shampoo, I made sure that I had another bottle of this stuff before it ran out as it is a must-have for blondes.
My full review on this product is here.

Charles Worthington Take Aways Sun-Shine Conditioner
I bought this conditioner along with the matching shampoo and UV protection spray before a holiday but never finished it. Despite the less than sunny weather lately, I just wanted to clear this out of my cupboard. I think it is a good conditioner and I absolutely love the scent. I probably wouldn't repurchase in the near future however.

Naked Rescue Hair Treatment
I make no secret of the fact that I think Naked hair conditioners are fantastic, particularly the Rescue products. This was no exception, I absolutely loved it as it was just the intensive moisture shot that my hair needed. I probably wouldn't repurchase at the moment this as I have a full-size bottle of the conditioner but I would probably buy these sachets for holidays, trip or to give to friends.

L'oreal EverPure Shampoo and Conditioner sachets
I was so pleased to get a sample of these L'oreal products through the post as I am really keen to find more hair products free from sulphates as I feel that their presence in some products seems to make my nails brittle. I really enjoyed using these products (although it look nails, teeth and eventually nail clippers to maul the sachets enough to get a bit of the product out)! While I wouldn't purchase the EverPure products again as they are designed for coloured hair, I will most likely get my hands on the EverStrong shampoo once I have used up my current stash.

Aromatherapy Associates Shampoo
This was a shampoo sample that I think I probably accumulated on holiday at some point. I have to say I only used it once as my other half finished it off but it smelt lovely! I wasn't blown away by any of the Aromathery Associates products to look into purchasing any though.

Original Source Mint and Tea Tree Conditioner
While I am a fan of Original Source products, I only used this conditioner a couple of times too as other people were also using it in the shower. It was okay, probably not very well suited to my hair type. I have used the White Pear and Avocado hair products from Original Source though which are lovely and I would recommend!

Bare Minerals Original Foundation
I am a huge fan of Bare Minerals products and have now purchased this foundation 3 times. As it is one of my essentials, I made sure that I had a spare one ready for when this ran out.

Benefit Bad Gal Mascara
This product was a miniature size which I received as a magazine freebie. I really liked this mascara as the chunky brush gave volume but I don't think that I would pay £16.50 for the full size product. I have, however, managed to get my hands on another sample size which I am looking forward to using.
I reviewed this product here.

Benefit Posie Tint
I love this product! I think this was also a freebie product, I can't remember when exactly but I can tell you that this lastest a long time. I really love the easy of use of this product and the lovely colour. I definitely want to repurchase this product but at £24.50 I think that I will have to do a little bit of saving or perhaps pop it on my Christmas list.

I haven't finished up any of my regular skincare products this month but I have tried a few samples:

Elemis S.O.S. Emergency Cream
I think I may have mentioned this cream in my last empties post as this is the second sachet which I have used. I love it just as much the second time round. When my skin is a little less temperamental and when I have stopped using prescribed lotion at night time, I hope to invest in some of this lovely stuff to use as a night cream.

The little pots are from the Origins counter at John Lewis where I sampled Have a Nice Day Lotion and Never a Dull Moment Exfoliator before I fell in love and bought them recently and featured them in my Beauty Haul post.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo
I tried this moisturiser as I was desperate to test out some La Roche products and I wasn't disappointed! When looking for skincare in future, they are a brand that I will be seriously considering.

Montagne Jeunesse Strawberry Souffle Face Mask
This trail size was part of a goodie bag that I was given. While I liked the texture of the product, I really disliked the sickly strawberry and whipped cream scent and I didn't feel like my skin received any noticeable benefits from it. While I haven't been put of trying other Montage Jeunesse products, I certainly won't be reaching for this one again.

Johnson's Baby Wipes
These are such a staple product for me. I use them for everything from a quick freshen-up to clearing up makeup spillages. I usually buy a few packs when I find them on offer as I know that I will always use them. I replaced this pack with the extra-sensitive baby wipes.

Simple Anti-perspirant Deodorant
I love this deodorant and have repurchased it several times. I find that it is very effective and I like that it is fragrance-free. I have never experienced it marking my clothes either. I am not at all a fan of aerosol deodorants as I dislike the smell and hate breathing in the spray. This is my perfect roll-on.

Sranrom Shower Gel
I am a real fan on Sranrom products. This Sleep Tight body wash from their Urban Wellness range is lovely. It smells really soothing as it is packed with lavender essential oils. I would consider repurchasing this product when I have worked my way though my shower gel stash!
You can find out a little more about Sranrom from their website or from my post on one of their lovely hand creams here.

I have generally enjoyed using all of these products and have repurchased some already. Of those that I haven't, I hope to get my mitts on soon!
