Fitness, healthiness and slimness are not achieved by just putting less 'stuff' into your body. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, being healthy is definitely not about depriving your body by following ill-advised 'diets'.
I have known and heard of lots of people who have put themselves through various types of crazy diets to try and lose weight or shape up. Many of them didn't work. Some of them did, but generally, the weight that was lost found it's way back. Most upsettingly though, motivation was lost because, let's face it, deprivation just is not fun.
So, some top tips:
+ Drink more water
If you want to get healthy, start by drinking more water. The majority of your body is made up of the magic stuff so keep yourself hydrated. Especially if you are working out too, be sure to take on plenty of fluid throughout the day.
+ Eat more veg
Eating more fruit and vegetables will ensure that you naturally absorb all of the vitamins and minerals that your body needs to look after itself. Fruit and veg is great to snack on too. Fruit especially is a great way to satisfy a craving if you have a bit of a sweet tooth. Check out one of my favourite quick snacks, here.
+ Get more sleep
Getting more sleep can be tricky if you lead a busy life like me, but it is worth finding the time for, trust me! Recently, I have been having a little help to make the most of my sleep, which you can read all about, here.
+ Exercise more often
Finally, exercise. It goes without saying, I think. Find something that you enjoy and do it as often as you can! The more often you get active, the better you will feel. Read this little post of mine if you're interested to know why I try to tell myself that I will workout seven days a week.
